A very large book which contains details about the history and institutions of each place in the county. Plymouth has it's own street directory of the heads of households.

An excellent full county directory of Devon, with the survey having been taken just before the first world war.

Devonshire 1850 White's History, Gazetteer and Directory

Excellent history of the county and each town, with lots of detail about each place to add to your family history. Of the early directories, the White's are the best!

Torquay and Tor Directory and General Advertiser - 1845-1846

A set of newspapers for Torquay, but with a difference. Not only are there advertisements, letters and local news articles, even weather reports day by day, but also an invaluable local listing of residents, house by house, and street by street. The directory listing appears in many issues, and is updated in each one. The newspapers cover the period November 1845 to December 1846 (almost 30 issues).
